Real problems, working solutions

Smart blinds for Home Assistant

Problem
Off-the-shelf motorised blinds were expensive and tied to the manufacturer's cloud.
Solution
A custom-housed stepper motor unit with ESPHome control that shows up in Home Assistant as an ordinary cover.
Result
Sunlight wakes you up, not an alarm clock. Fully local control, no subscription.
ESP82663D-printed housing

Hallway bus departure display

Problem
Checking bus times on a phone in the middle of the morning rush.
Solution
An OLED display showing the next departures from your own stop, live from the Tampere transit API.

WeMos D1 MiniReal-time data

Smart litter box air filter

Problem
Odours spread through the flat before anyone has time to clean up.

How a project runs

Idea in, working solution out

You don't need to know which technology you need. It's enough to describe the problem.

  1. Tell us your problem

Send a photo, a sketch or a couple of sentences. We reply within one working day and ask what we need to know.

  2. Get a proposal

We propose a solution, a timeline and a fixed price. No commitment — the quote is always free.

  3. Design & build

We model, print, solder and program. You see the intermediate stages and can comment before we finish.

  4. Delivery & support

You get a finished, tested solution with documentation. We also help with installation and further development.

Why Tinkoder

A small workshop with a big toolbox

The whole chain in one place

Mechanics, electronics and software in the same hands. You don't have to coordinate three different suppliers.

Honest pricing

A fixed quote before we start. If something isn't worth building, we'll say so — and suggest a smarter route.

Built to last

We choose materials and components for the use case, not the cheapest shelf. Local-first solutions keep working even if a cloud service shuts down.

What clients say

In their words

“The dishwasher hinge had been discontinued years ago. The new printed part has outlasted the original.”
PRIVATE CLIENT · TAMPERE
“We had a working sensor prototype in three weeks. A bigger agency would have taken longer just to send the quote.”
STARTUP · PIRKANMAA
“The Home Assistant setup was done remotely and documented so well I can keep building on it myself.”
SMART HOME CLIENT · HELSINKI

FAQ

Before you ask — and you can still ask after

I only have an idea. Is that enough?

Absolutely. Most of our projects start with the sentence “would it be possible to make…”. We help turn the idea into a buildable plan.

What does modelling and printing a single replacement part cost?

Typically from tens of euros to a few hundred, depending on the size and complexity of the part. You always get a fixed quote before anything starts.

Do you deliver across Finland?

Yes. Physical parts by post; smart home and software work can be done fully remotely. In the Tampere region we also do on-site visits.

How quickly will I get a finished part?

A straightforward replacement part is often ready within a week. Electronics and software projects are scoped case by case — we give a realistic timeline in the quote.

Do your smart home solutions require subscriptions or a cloud service?

No. We build local-first solutions on Home Assistant and ESPHome. Your devices keep working even if the internet connection drops.

Do you work with companies too?

Yes — small production runs, prototypes and technical consulting, invoiced normally. Business ID and paperwork are all in order.

Tell us what you need — even if you don't yet know how it's made

The quote is always free and doesn't commit you to anything. We usually reply the same day.
